Understanding your data
AI crawler activity
Section titled “AI crawler activity”A crawler request means a client accessed your site. Detection uses signals such as its User-Agent, with forward-confirmed reverse DNS available for supported providers.
User-Agent strings can be imitated. Verification improves confidence for supported bots, but detection is not a perfect identity guarantee.
A crawl does not prove your page was indexed, used for training, or cited in an answer.
AI referral traffic
Section titled “AI referral traffic”Referrals represent visitors arriving with a recognizable AI source, such as ChatGPT or Perplexity. Referrer information can be missing or removed by browsers and apps, so recorded referrals are not a complete census of AI-driven visits.
A referral is also different from a brand mention: an AI answer can mention your site without a click.
GEO / AEO readiness
Section titled “GEO / AEO readiness”The content scorer assesses ten dimensions of content readiness, including structure, readability, and answer clarity. Use it as a checklist for editorial improvements, not as an AI ranking prediction.
The citation simulator is a preview of possible presentation, not evidence that an AI service actually cited your content.
IndexNow
Section titled “IndexNow”IndexNow notifies participating search engines that a URL changed. Submission or acceptance is not a guarantee of crawling, indexing, ranking, or AI citation. Each receiving service makes its own decisions.
Crawl controls
Section titled “Crawl controls”Robots.txt communicates access preferences to cooperative crawlers. It is not authentication and cannot stop every scraper. Supported firewall rules operate differently: they may block matching traffic, but can still be affected by detection limits.
Change rules gradually and test that desired crawlers can still access your site.
Where to start
Section titled “Where to start”- Observe your own site’s baseline before drawing conclusions.
- Compare crawler activity and real referrals for the same period.
- Review content with activity but limited referrals.
- Improve clarity and structure, then watch how signals change over time.
